Meet Michelle Ruark, Co-Owner of Black Swan Emporium, LLC

For a good part of her adult life, Michelle Ruark has always been drawn to antiquities, repurposing a wide range of items for a new life and much more.

About 30 years ago, she opened a booth space, selling a variety of curated items, jewelry and glassware. Michele has also been a buyer and seller for many years on Ebay.

In recent years, after being a vendor at a number of other locations, Michelle did what anyone with an entrepreneurial fire does. She decided to start her own business, bring all of the lessons she learned along the way, and create what she does best - create a place for uniquely antiquey treasures and finds.

The result is Black Swan Emporium, located in a beautifully restored early 1900's building at the corner of Muir and Race Streets in Downtown Cambridge.

Opening in April of 2026, The Black Swan Emporium is home to over 14 independent vendors (and a waiting list!), offering a wide range antiques, unique finds, artwork, jewelry, clothing, glassware, books and so much more.

Founding Partner Michelle Ruark, and Co-partner Frank Price, are excited about the incredible feedback they have received from the community and growth of the store, vendors, items and people coming in!

"Our inventory is constantly changing, thanks in large part to our wonderful vendors, who are always bringing in new items for their booths. They all have a great eye for displays, and we are truly delighted to see what they each bring to the Emporium. It has been such a joy."

Michelle and Frank have some fun plans for the holidays, including a few special sales, and events. Be sure to follow @blackswanemporium on both Instagram and Facebook or just stop by!
